Calgary final qualifier, staring line up

CALGARY, AB - Following the conclusion of the 'Final Qualifier' race on Saturday night at Race City Speedway, the rest of the starting grid for Sunday's Mopar Parts 300 was determined. The 25-lap race featured the Castrol Super Series drivers who did not secure one of the first 18 starting positions on Friday. Based on the results of the 'Final Qualifier' sprint, spots 19 to 30 were locked in for the 10th Castrol Super Series race of the season.

Mopar Performance Parts Intrepid driver Ron Beauchamp started on the pole and led every lap of the caution-less affair. Finishing just over four seconds behind the Windsor, ON racer was fellow Intrepid driver Andy Farr, in his DEWALT Tools-sponsored car. Kelowna, BC's Darren Turner was third in his Western Star Chevy.

Sitting on the pole for the Mopar 300 will be rookie driver Robbie Thompson. The Logel's / SMP Intrepid driver posted the fastest time during Friday's time trials, but suffered a blown engine during his 100 lap heat race. Lining up alongside of Thompson, on the front row, will be three-time Mopar 300 race winner and defending Castrol Cup winner Peter Gibbons.
