Race Notes: During qualifying for the Ford Quality Care 250, heat wins went to Al Turner, Scott Steckly and Neil Fair. Pete Vanderwyst won the Fast Qualifiers' heat, while Jim Lapcevich claimed the Final Qualifiers' race. Peter Gibbons' pole winning speed of 106.838 mph on the 5/8-mile oval beat Steve Robblee's former mark of 103.135 which had stood since 1991. In all, 22 drivers either tied or beat Robblee's old record.
