Peterborough: Dave Jacombs race notes

Peterborough, ON: The #88 Jacombs Racing Team had another top ten run on Saturday night at Peterborough Speedway in the Dodge Dealers of Ontario 200 with a finish of 9th.
Practice was difficult for the Lou's BBQ, Inroble International/FAG Automotive Team as they couldn't find the handle on the #88 Taurus. After several practice sessions and a lot of changes they time trailed 15th quickest for the start of the 200 lap main event set to run under the lights later in the day. "We made a lot of changes to the car that we are hoping will work when the race starts and the sun goes down," stated Jacombs.
A good crowd waited in anticipation of what is usually action packed racing on the tight confines of the Peterborough bullring and they weren't to be disappointed. Twenty-three cars took the green flag and while they ran the first sixty-two laps without a caution, the remaining 138 were exciting. Race leader Mark Dilley set a torrid pace and lapped all but 10 cars during that sixty-two lap session including the #88 of Dave Jacombs. However the Lou's BBBQ Team made adjustments to the car on that first caution that helped and they were able to run a solid pace after that. At the finish only eight cars remained on the lead lap but the battles for those positions were fierce. The #88 Lou's BBQ/Inroble/FAG Taurus finished in the ninth position, the first car one lap down. "We worked on the car during that first stop and it paid off as the car handled even better after that," said Jacombs. "We also dodged a few bullets out there in the second half of the race and the car is coming home in one piece so that's all good," he added.
Finish 1. #64 Mark Dilley 2. #39 Dave Whitlock 3. #02 Kerry Micks 9. #88 Dave Jacombs
