Chicagoland: Robby Gordon qualifying report

Gordon Qualifies 30th at Chicagoland Speedway

JOLIET, Ill. (July 7, 2006) -- Qualifying with a lap of 30.426 seconds (177.480 mph) at the1.5-mile speedway, Robby Gordon and the No. 7 Jim Beam Chevrolet will start in the 30th position for Sunday's USG Sheetrock 400.

"The car was a little bit free on our qualifying lap," said Gordon. "We have to start qualifying further up in the field. Every week we fight our way toward the front of the field and this week we'll work hard to stay there. The No. 7 car was really good in race trim and we should be a solid contender right here in Jim Beam's backyard."

Jim Beam's parent company, Beam Global, is headquartered in Deerfield, Ill., just north of downtown Chicago.
