Daytona Duel: David Stremme preview

David Stremme to Battle in the Second Duel in Daytona February 8, 2009

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (February 8, 2009) -- David Stremme, driver of the No. 12 Penske Dodge Charger, will line up in the 20th starting position in the second Duel on Thursday afternoon at Daytona International Speedway.

In Sunday's qualifying session, the 31-year-old Indiana native ran a time of 48.546 seconds which put him 41st overall. Thursday's two 150-mile events will set the field for Sunday's Daytona 500.

"I am proud of Roy McCauley and all the guys on this No. 12 Penske Dodge Charger," Stremme said. "We picked up three tenths from yesterday's practice sessions and I am really confident about our chances for a strong showing on Thursday in the duels. We knew coming into this weekend that our focus was going to be on our setup for the race. If you are not one of the top-two in qualifying on Sunday, it really doesn't matter. I am looking forward to getting a little rest the next couple of days and get ready for Thursday."
