Daytona practice Update 97-02-12

They are practicing at Daytona today. I'll give you the driver that looked the best today, they are in the draft so speeds are mixed.

Geoff Bodine looks really good. He definitely looks ready to race. There was an accident today involving Joe Nemechek and Ward Burton. Joe will have to go to a backup car because his is trashed, Ward had minor damage. NASCAR is looking closely at the Carbs and the Restrictor plates today, could they finally be seeing what we are? I sure hope so. Drivers comments today, they say it is very Hairy. They say it is as tight as it has been ever and it is really difficult to get around in the pack, very close quarters. They still are complaining about passing.

There was another minor incident in practice this afternoon, Ernie Irvan and Kyle Petty got together in a slow speed accident, both came out with minor damage. In a similar incident Greg Sacks and Ricky Craven got together for minor damage.

Seems to be a bit better in practice in the afternoon. There are conflicting reports but all in all I'd say the racing is a little better. Teams seem to be adapting to the rules although NASCAR is still looking.

Practice speeds are in but they are a little bogus due to the draft. Here is a list.
