BILL ELLIOTT (No. 9 Dodge Dealers Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Elliott will compete with the same chassis that David Green drove in a
substitute role for Elliott last fall at Bristol. Green started 26th and
finished 36th. Elliott finished 36th in last year's Food City 500. He
finished 23rd last week at Darlington and ranks ninth in the NASCAR Winston
Cup Standings (NWCS), 167 points behind the leader. Elliott has one victory,
six top fives and 13 top-10 finishes at Bristol in 34 career starts.
CASEY ATWOOD (No. 19 Dodge Dealers Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Atwood's Bristol chassis was last used by Elliott last year at Texas.
Elliott finished 30th in that race. Atwood will make his first Winston Cup
start at the high-banked .533-mile track. Atwood finished 26th last week at
Darlington and ranks 34th in the NWCS. He's fifth in the Raybestos Rookie of
the Year points.
WARD BURTON (No. 22 Caterpillar Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Burton will race Bill Davis Racing chassis No. 40 at Bristol. It's the
same chassis that finished 12th last week at Darlington. Burton finished
third in last year's Food City 500. He ranks 17th in the NWCS.
STERLING MARLIN (No. 40 Coors Light Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Marlin will race the same Intrepid that finished eighth earlier this
season at Rockingham. The 43-year-old Tennessee native has been loaded for
bear so far this season. With four top-10 finishes in the first five events,
one of only three drivers with four top 10s, Marlin is tied for second in the
NWCS, 65 points behind the leader. Marlin finished fifth last week at
Darlington and 10th in last year's Food City 500. Marlin has 13 top-10
finishes in 32 career starts at Bristol and has recorded three straight
top-10 finishes at Bristol.
JOHN ANDRETTI (No. 43 Cheerios Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Andretti will race the same Intrepid that finished 21st earlier this
season at Rockingham. Andretti is fresh off a sixth-place finish at
Darlington. He jumped eight spots in the series standings with that finish
and is now 25th. Andretti finished 33rd in last year's Food City 500. He has
a career-best finish of fourth at Bristol in the 1999 Food City 500.
BUCKSHOT JONES (No. 44 Georgia Pacific Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Jones will race the same chassis that finished 36th earlier this season
at Las Vegas. Jones finished 41st last week at Darlington. He ranks 40th in
the NWCS. He has one previous Winston Cup start at Bristol, finishing 39th in
the '99 Food City 500.
KYLE PETTY (No. 45 Sprint Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Petty brought his Las Vegas Intrepid to Bristol. Petty finished 35th last
week at Darlington and 24th in last year's Food City 500. In 36 career starts
at Bristol, Petty has two top fives and eight top-10 finishes. His best
finish at Bristol was third in the 1993 Food City 500. Petty ranks 43rd in
the NWCS.
STACY COMPTON (No. 92 Kodiak Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Compton will bring a brand new chassis to Bristol. Compton finished 43rd
last week at Darlington and 28th in last year's Food City 500 as a rookie.
He ranks 36th in the NWCS.
DAVE BLANEY (No. 93 Amoco Ultimate Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Blaney will race the same Intrepid chassis used earlier this season at
Darlington and Rockingham. Blaney finished ninth at Rockingham and 22nd at
Darlington. Ranked 30th in the NWCS, Blaney finished 35th in last year's Food
City 500 and 43rd in the fall race at Bristol.
JASON LEFFLER (No. 01 Cingular Wireless Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Leffler will race a brand new Intrepid at Bristol. Leffler will make the
his first Winston Cup start at Bristol. He finished 39th last week at
Darlington and ranks 41st in the NWCS. Leffler is fourth in the Raybestos
Rookie of the Year competition.
