Word on Dale Earnhardt coming out in the local paper is that the condition is probably due to something cardiovascular rather than neurological. It was NOT a stroke as many have speculated. When tested Earnhardt's heart rate became lower under stress rather than higher. At the time of the race his heart rate was 55 bpm. Any other driver is normally around 120 bpm. The results are inconclusive and speculation. The results are being forwarded to specialist and a determination will be made later.
