Bill Elliott Optimistic

In an interview with Elliott recently he feels like his team is making the kind of improvements it needs to be consistent and to win races. He feels that it is only a matter of time before he is back in victory lane.

Testing in California

Jay Sauter, Bobby Hamilton, and Dave Marcus just completed a four day tire test at California. Early word is that the track is in excellent condition for racing. "This is the best facility we have seen so far," Sauter said. "It's a driver's racetrack with the possibility of racing three and four cars wide. It's a smooth track and they sure have paid a lot of attention to the details." "Roger (Penske) has put a lot of effort into the track and it means a lot to the drivers," Hamilton said. "It's exceeds my expectations. I'm impressed how smooth the track is and pit row, well, you can't make pit row any better than this. The track was excellent today for testing." Speeds averaged between 177 and 179 mph over the 4 day test.

Rain Delay at Hickory

There has been a rain delay in the qualifying at Hickory Motor Speedway. We will keep you posted as they try to squeeze in qualifying for today.

Testing at Martinsville

Bill Elliott Brett Bodine, joined a half dozen other NASCAR Winston Cup Series drivers at Martinsville Speedway on Thursday for a test session they both believe is necessary. Others testing included Mark Martin, Ward Burton, Ricky Craven, Derrike Cope, Chad Little, Robert Pressley. There was a mixture of times because they worked on qualifying and race setups. It was difficult to tell who was good.

Testing at Richmond

Hut Stricklin completed a much needed, in his words, test at Richmond. He was very happy after testing was completed.
