RON HORNADAY, NO. 14 CONSECO PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:
"This Conseco team's really been working hard, week in and week out. I
thought I was faster than that, but I drove it into (Turn) one there and just
had too much rear brake and went up the track a little bit, but the car still
turned and came off the bottom.
PHOENIX IS ALMOST A HOME TRACK FOR YOU, ISN'T IT? "Yea, I like this track. It's close to home and I've done a lot of racing here - Southwest Tour races, Winston West, Winston Cup and even a little bit of Busch. The track's been good to me, and hopefully we'll keep this Conseco Pontiac off the walls and running straight on Sunday."
JOHNNY BENSON, NO. 10 VALVOLINE PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:
"We had a pretty quick car in practice, but not so much for qualifying.
I don't know where that's going to end up - I haven't got a clue. I'm
thinking like 15th or so, but I just don't know that. We'll have to see.
HOW WERE TRACK CONDITIONS? "The track's real slick out there, but some guys are picking up from practice and some are slowing down. I thought we made the right adjustments and I really thought we had a shot at the pole. And that might be why I'm going to end up 15th because I was trying to get that little extra out of it and I just couldn't do it. Tried, but that's all we had."
KEN SCHRADER, NO. 36 M&M'S PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:
"That was better than what we'd run in practice. We've just been
fighting all day and (crew chief) Newt and the guys made a lot of changes and
we picked up in qualifying and that's the main thing. I think it'll be a top
10, but not much better than that. But it'll be a good starting spot - at
least we'll be able to see the green flag drop.
WHAT ABOUT RUNNING IN FOUR RACES THIS WEEKEND? "Man, these are all short races out here, so this is no problem."
BOBBY LABONTE, NO. 18 INTERSTATE BATTERIES PONTIAC GRAND PRIX:
"That was a skosh better, but not a whole lot. At least we didn't slow
down. The guys did a really good job on this Interstate Batteries Pontiac.
We were really bad early on and we made a bunch of changes, and I still think
we have a ways to go but at least we're making steps in the right direction
and we're trying to get it figured out correctly. Hopefully by tomorrow
afternoon we'll get it right for Sunday's race."
