JEFF GORDON, NO. 24 DUPONT IMPALA SS: QUALIFIED SECOND, OUTSIDE OF FRONT ROW:
TALK ABOUT YOUR QUALIFYING EFFORT:
"Great effort for us. Very happy with that. You always pick the lap apart trying to figure out where you could be a little bit better no matter where you qualify, but especially when you are that close to being on the pole. Brian (Vickers) laid down a great lap, obviously the lap to beat. We came close but not good enough. It was a very challenging day for us. I am very very pleased with that. The team was really working hard today. We struggled at the beginning of practice in race trim. When we switched over to qualifying trim, the car was really good. So, hopefully we get the race trim part figured out and have a good, competitive car tomorrow night. I think we have hit on some things. It was good, the whole day for qualifying and pulled through there as well."
