Robby Gordon failed to qualify Saturday the Chevrolet Monte Carlo 400 from Richmond International Raceway. After a lap Friday evening in first round qualifying of 22.01 seconds, which was good for 44th of 47 competitors, Gordon attempted qualifying in second round Saturday but was unable to improve his time. Gordon's problems all day Friday were linked to being loose on entry to Richmond's corners, then tight in the middle and loose off.
ROBBY GORDON "Obviously, I'm not very happy. Anytime you have to pack up and leave a track with your tail between your legs it's disappointing. I shake my head because we came off a weekend at Bristol where we were very good in qualifying and I felt we really turned a corner. Basically, we've gone from the big house to the out house here. Richmond is similar as a short track, but I guess it's not similar enough. Maybe it's the car too, we took this same jalopy to Atlanta and Indy. I'm starting to think it's destined to be a show car, that's certainly all it's been at those tracks. No matter though, we're going to figure it out. That's all, we're just going to figure it out. I don't care what it takes, I hate getting beat, especially without being able to compete."
