Purse for Texas Race announced
Winston Cup drivers have another reason to be excited about the Inaugural race at the new Texas Motor Speedway. The announcement of the purse was made Wednesday. The purse is set at some 4.6 million dollars. The purse for the Busch race was also announced to be 3.8 million.
Something stinks at Charlotte
The Smith Towers had an unwelcome visitor on Monday, a skunk was stuck inside the walls of the track. Track employees said that the track "reeked". Someone heard a noise coming from inside a wall near a theater near the track's second-floor gift shop. Workers punched a hole in the wall and used a stick with a rope on the end to trap the skunk. The skunk apparently got into the walls through a hole on the walkway leading to the concourse on the north side of the Smith Tower. Track workers Neil Moore and Mike Bennett snared the skunk, put it into a 5-gallon bucket, took it to the edge of the CMS property and released it.
Atlanta Construction Begins
NASCAR Driver Bill Elliott wanted one last testing session over the 1.522-mile oval before the wall was wrecked. Once that was completed, Elliott climbed aboard a bulldozer and struck the first blow against the backstretch wall on Tuesday. Kinda fitting I thought. Purvis to Bud Moore
Bud Moore has said that he will entertain offers to sell his team. But for the short term Jeff Purvis could help the team by running in Darlington.
Things are always bigger in Texas
This hold true for the problems as well. No only do they have a shortage of tires to test with but the track is coming up in places. Mark Martin says there is a hump in the track that is worse than the one in Charlotte. Some drivers are saying if you hit it just right you will go over the wall. With the debut of the new tracks of NASCAR we have some growing pains. ____________________________________ NASCAR Fans Website and E-mail List http://www.cs.mtsu.edu/~csvlh
