Jeff Gordon (first) won his first career road course race and claimed the $50,000 Winston Leader Bonus for the ninth time. He won $425,120 of the $510,000 awarded since the program began in 1996.

The Winston Leader Bonus rolls back to the $10,000 for the DeVilbliss 400 at Michigan.

Geoff Bodine (second) posted his best finish since finishing second at Richmond in March.

Rusty Wallace (third) posted his thrid top-10 finish in the last five races.

Robby Gordon (fourth) was the highest finishing rookie for the second time this season and posted the best finish by a rookie for 1997, It was his career-best finish and he joined Sabco teammates Wally Dallenbach (10th) and Joe Nemechek (12th) in posting season best finishes.

Ricky Craven (17th) and Joe Nemechek made the NASCAR Winston Cup points move of each race each gaining three positions.

Terry Labonte posted only his second top-10 finish in the last five races.

Dale Jarrett (32nd) posted his worst finish in 1997, only the third time he finished outside the top 10.
