Ryan Truex Dover preview
Dover International Speedway 200
CORNELIUS, N.C. — Dover International Speedway is a special place for nearby Mayetta, N.J., native Ryan Truex who clinched the 2009 and 2010 K&N Pro Series East championships at the Monster Mile. On Saturday, the No. 99 Pastrana-Waltrip Racing Toyota driver makes his first Nationwide Series appearance on the concrete oval. He scored a career-best, eighth-place finish at Richmond on April 29. The 19-year-old will race in at least 10 races in 2011 and action sports star Travis Pastrana will drive in seven races for the team beginning at Indianapolis in July.
RYAN TRUEX QUOTES
TRUEX ON DOVER: “Dover is a fun track to race on. I have run well there in the East car and I love it. It is just a special place for me. It’s pretty close to my hometown and all my friends and family come out to support me. I think it’s one of the toughest tracks we race. You have to have a lot of guts and determination to be competitive at Dover. It lives up to its name the “Monster Mile.” You almost feel like you are on a roller coaster when you drive around the track. There are points on the race track where you drop one or two stories and sensation is incredible. At most tracks, if you are having a difficult time and are a little off, you can usually work through it. However, Dover is a place where if the car is just not right it’s really difficult to race and stay up front. Hopefully we will have a fast car at Dover, and I can grab my first win in front of my family and friends.”
ON GREATEST MEMORY AT DOVER: “My greatest memory at Dover has to be when I lifted up my first K&N Pro East Series championship trophy in 2009. It was a really cool moment for me. All my family and friends were there cheering me on. Mike Helton was there to present the trophy to me. It was something I will never forget. It was so cool to win a championship in the series I grew up watching. My dad and my brother both raced in this series. It’s a day I will never forget.”
