Denver, N.C. (June 24, 2008) -- This weekend Craig Goess and his Greenville-Toyota team travel to New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the Heluva Good! Summer 125. With a strong test at the superspeedway, the Sunoco Rookie of the Year candidate and his Eddie Sharp Racing team are excited to return to Loudon, New Hampshire.
"We had a really good test here in May," said Goess. "The car was strong and fast. The team has gone through some personnel changes and I'm really excited about the group we have now. I'm really looking forward to getting back on track at Loudon."
Joining the team as Crew Chief of the No. 2 Greenville-Toyota Toyota is NASCAR-veteran Johnny Allen. Allen brings 24 years of racing experience to the Eddie Sharp Racing team. Allen was a Crew Chief at Phoenix Racing (NASCAR Nationwide Series), Joe Gibbs Racing (NNS), and Michael Waltrip Racing, where Allen worked with Eddie Sharp Racing driver Ken Butler, III in the Driver Development Program and as shop foreman for the NASCAR Sprint Cup program.
"I'm looking forward to working with Craig," said Allen. "We took him up to Hickory today and had a really good test session. He adjusts very well to a new track or set-up. He is very talented and I'm excited to be a part of this team."
Goess added that "each week that I am behind the wheel in these cars I feel like I am learning and growing. I'm excited to have Johnny and all the guys with us. I think with some consistency we can really grow to be a very strong team. I completely support Eddie [Sharp] in all changes that he has made over the months and I think we've hit the nail this time! This is a great group."
In 2007, rookie sensation Joey Logano took the pole position and the win at the 1.058-mile paved oval superspeedway. Goess and his Greenville-Toyota team have high hopes for this weekend and in being the next rookie to capture the checkered flag at NHMS.
The Camping World Series East 125 will spend two days at NHMS. Practice begins on Thursday, June 26th from 11:30 until 1:00 p.m. with qualifying following at 3:00 p.m. The green flag will wave Friday, June 27th at 5:10 p.m. All times are EASTERN.
