Open Practice Draws Large Field of Cars to South Boston Speedway

SOUTH BOSTON, VA--. Sunny skies and a beautiful afternoon prevailed at South Boston Speedway Saturday March 8 for an open practice session for all divisions. Up to 60 cars showed up to test in Late Model, Limited, Pure Stock and Rolling Thunder Modifieds.

Several notable drivers showed up, including Clay Campbell, Woody Howard, Stacy Puryear, Bruce Driver and Denny Hamlin. "I'm very impressed with the turn out we had today," stated speedway General Manager Cathy Rice, "The day did not start out as I'd hope but it turned into a beautiful day to test, we extended practice to help the drivers with time lost during the rain delay this morning."

These cars are preparing for the "Spring Fling 200" season opener Saturday March 13. The Spring Fling 200 will feature 200 laps of Late Model racing, 100 laps of the Limited, 30 laps of Pure Stocks and 50 laps for the Rolling Thunder Modifieds. Ticket prices are $8 in advance (up to 30 minutes before the green flag drops)/$10 at the door for adult general admission, $5 for youth ages 10-15, and children nine and under get in for free.
