One race left in first segment of Countdown
BRAINERD, Minn. (August 12, 2007) -- An exit in the opening round at the 28th annual NHRA Lucas Oil Nationals being held this weekend at Brainerd International Raceway (BIR) puts pressure on Hillary Will as only one race remains in the first segment of the Countdown to the Championship.
In the first round of eliminations, Will drove her KB Racing LLC-owned, Kalitta Motorsports-managed Top Fuel dragster to an elapsed time of 4.604 in a losing effort; while, Lucas took the win light in 4.610 seconds.
Will heads to the final race of the first segment of the Countdown needing 63 points to overcome Kalitta teammate Dave Grubnic for the eighth spot in points. The 63 points is not insurmountable and does make the next race, NHRA Toyo Tires Nationals, even more important.
NEXT RACE: The NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series now heads to Reading, Penn., for the final race of the first segment of the Countdown to the Championship -- the 23rd annual NHRA Toyo Tires Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway, Aug. 16-19.
