DIXON RACES MILLER LITE DRAGSTER TO FIRST-ROUND FINISH AT BRISTOL
BRISTOL, Tenn. (April 30, 2006) Two-time NHRA Top Fuel champion Larry Dixon drove his Miller Lite dragster to a first-round effort during the sixth annual O'Reilly Thunder Valley Nationals Sunday at Bristol Dragway.
After qualifying in the No. 12 position on Saturday at Thunder Valley, the start of eliminations was delayed due to early morning rain showers in the Northeastern Tennessee area. Without lane choice, Dixon powered his Miller Lite dragster to its quickest performance of the weekend, 4.577 seconds at 327.27, but Millican earned the win light with his 4.601, 318.84 pass. It was Dixon's first opening round defeat of the 2006 season.
The next NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series event is the 26th annual Summit Racing Equipment Southern Nationals, May 4-7, at Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, Ga. Dixon is a three-time winner of the Atlanta race (1996, 2002-03).
