Perkinson Will Pilot Cunningham Motorsports Ford Mustang In Bristol, June 17-19

Cunningham Motorsports announced recently that they will be competing in the 11th annual Ford NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals presented by Tri-Cities Area Ford Dealers in Bristol, Tenn. this weekend, June 17-19.

Bristol is the ninth of 22 events throughout the 2011 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series tour.

Prince George, Va. native, 19-year-old Buddy Perkinson will continue to pursue his first round win in the 2011 Cunningham Motorsports Ford Mustang. Perkinson, who is in his rookie year of Pro Stock, hopes that this weekend in Bristol will illustrate their full potential as a team.

“Lately we’ve been getting a lot more accomplished at the shop [Cunningham Motorsports]. We have welcomed in a new member of the team who will be helping out this weekend in Bristol. We started the year off great and then slipped, but I think it’s about time for us to make a comeback. A lot has changed with the car and how the guys go about running the car, so I’m really excited to see the results and hopefully go fast,” said Perkinson.

The first day of race weekend in Bristol marks the last day of voting for the K&N Horsepower Challenge, where fans have the opportunity to help vote in their favorite driver. The top 7 points leaders in Pro Stock are automatically entered into the contest, while the 8th and final position is set aside for the fan favorite.
