FRAM Dragster Runs 4.566 Seconds Going into Saturday Qualifying
COMMERCE, Ga., April 27, 2006 -- Cory McClenathan went from outside the 16-car line-up into the No. 13 position Friday night with a run of 4.566-seconds at 319.22 mph in the Carrier Boyz Racing FRAM Top Fuel dragster.
But it could've been better, McClenathan said. "It started spinning the tires from half-track and then it went from straight to sideways very quickly. I've never had a car make a move that quickly."
McClenathan's reflex actions got the car straight again. "The car clearly had oil under the tires. There had been a big oil down in front of us and I can only think there was something on the track to make the car do that. At the same time, we did qualify 13th, but it could've been a better run.
"We'll go out Saturday and try to run quicker and get ready for Sunday's eliminations.
