FRAM Top Fuel Driver Gets Rematch with Bazemore
COMMERCE, Ga., April 28, 2007 -- Cory McClenathan put the Carrier Boyz Racing Top Fuel dragster into 13th place Saturday with a 4.566-second elapsed time in qualifying for Sunday's Summit Racing Equipment Southern Nationals at Atlanta Dragway. And it sends him into a rematch with Whit Bazemore in the first round of competition.
Bazemore is No. 4 here, 4.524 seconds at 327.19 mph.
"We ran very well on our last run in the heat of the day," McClenathan said of his 4.569-second time that was second quickest of the session. "That was an excellent time for the conditions. With the weather forecast calling for higher temperatures, it should give Wes (Cerny, crew chief) and Tony (Shortall, assistant crew chief) a good baseline for Sunday."
Cerny agreed. "We should be able to run that kind all day Sunday," he said.
McClenathan, incidentally, upset Bazemore two weeks ago at Las Vegas.
