JUNIOR PIPPIN CONFIDENT FOLLOWING TESTING AS HE RIDES INTO DENVER RACE
DENVER, Colo., July 9, 2008- Junior Pippin rides his PiranaZ Racing/Pippin Racing S&S-proven-performance-powered V-Twin Pro Stock Motorcycle (PSM) into this weekend's 29th annual Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals here at Bandimere Speedway confident and ready to make the show.
Although concerned about the 5,860 feet above sea level elevation, Pippin, who has raced here in the past, remains undaunted.
"When I was competing in the All Harley Drag Racing Association series I used to come to Denver, said the 55-year-old rookie from Conyers, Ga. "Because we're so high, there's not enough air to make the motorcycles run fast.
"I feel marvelous, and we're confident approaching the weekend. We're ready to race!" Unlike most other teams who went home or restocked supplies during the holiday weekend to prepare for the Western swing, Pippin spent the downtime between the last event in Norwalk (June 27-29) and Denver testing his PSM in Farmington, N.C.
"We tested the motorcycle with a new clutch. It worked well and now we're set for Denver. I figured I'd save myself the fuel and just test and come straight to Denver." This weekend's race marks the eighth PSM race and 13th national event in the 2008 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing season-motorcycles do not compete in all national events. After Denver, there are four races remaining until the Countdown to One Championship begins.
