TEAM HAMMONDS STILL PSYCHED THOUGH RACE CALLED
(GAINESBILLE, Fla., Mar. 14, 2008) - The first day of competition for the 39th Annual ACDelco Gatornationals was cancelled due to rain, but the cancellation did not put a damper on Team Hammonds' quest for a win.
"Today is disappointing for obvious reasons," says Team Hammonds driver and owner Tom Hammonds. "We know we have to take advantage of the two runs tomorrow to make sure we qualify for Sunday."
Changing up the plan to pull a win will be important. The team will make sure all set-ups are conducive to the weather to ensure a solid qualifying run. Today was the coolest day of the week, which was not anticipated. Tomorrow the track is expected to be dry with a 10 percent chance of rain.
"Tomorrow, we know we need to take care of business."
Team Hammonds is set to begin competition Saturday, with NHRA pro stock category's first run scheduled for noon, and again at 2:30 p.m. EST.
