MADISON, Ill. - Bruce Litton feels that if you find a combination that works, that you should stick with it. The Indianapolis-based, enclosed trailer dealer has made a habit of running only three qualifying runs and sitting out the first. With a 4.71, 310.48 from his Wix Filters-sponsored Top Fueler, he's more confident than ever that if it isn't broke, then he shouldn't fix it.
Litton uses the NHRA Winston events to improve on his 25% overdriven supercharger combination.
"I think we're making a lot of ground," explained Litton. "The real test is when we run this combination during the heat of the day. We didn't due too well in our first round match last week in Cordova, and that is primarily why I am out trying to get this program better. Hard work pays off, I'm confident of that."
Litton lost last week in the first round, just one race after establishing new IHRA Top Fuel record. His loss was one that he couldn't easily stomach as he went up in smoke against independent runner Roger Dean and with the loss, surrendered the points lead.
Litton is currently ranked 10th headed into the final day of qualifying.
