MADISON, Ill. (Saturday June 23)– Don Smith, driver of the Texas Harley-Davidson Chevrolet S-10, will enter eliminations at the 4th Annual Sears Craftsman NHRA Nationals in St. Louis, Mo. holding the sixth position on the Pro Stock Truck eliminations ladder.
It was in the second session of qualifying that Smith drove his S-10 to a 7.492 / 180.60 mph to take the sixth spot.
Smith will meet John Lingenfelter in the first round of eliminations.
"I am looking forward to racing John (Lingenfelter)," said Smith of Keller, Texas. "The last time we met, in Pomona two years ago, he beat me. So I would like to have a chance to redeem myself."
"I think we are ready to race. The truck is running strong; there are no problems there. We have tried a couple things this weekend, trying to get a good tune up for this racetrack, some have worked and some haven’t. We don’t always pick up, but we learn something on every run, and that is what is important.
"We should be all right on Sunday. We would like to go a couple rounds here tomorrow. I think that is possible. We are going to give it are best shot anyway."
Pro Stock Truck eliminations at the 4th Annual Sears Craftsman NHRA Nationals in St. Louis, Mo. begin at 11:00 AM CST on Sunday June 24.
