Powers Motorsports Hopes to Bring Home Win Number Two

HOUSTON, TX 8/26/05 With the recent O'Reilly Mid-South Nationals win under their belts and the possibility of another on the horizon, the David Powers Motorsports Top Fuel team heads to the prestigious NHRA Mac Tools U.S. Nationals for Labor Day weekend.

When David Powers, veteran drag racer and owner of the Valvoline/Mac Tools Top Fuel dragster, made the decision to get back into drag racing he never imagined that his team would win their first national event after only ten races, however due to the hard work and persistence of the team what was once a dream became reality just last weekend.

"As a team owner I couldn't be any prouder than I am right now," said Powers. "Our crew chief Lee Beard, tuning consultant Rob Flynn and all the guys have come together to form a really exceptional team and I feel we are going to bring a lot to the table in Indianapolis."

The Powers Motorsports Top Fuel dragster will appear in full red, white and blue Valvoline livery and attempt to bring home a second win for team sponsors Valvoline and Mac Tools.

"We had a lot of success at the test session and gained valuable information to prepare us for the U.S. Nationals," said Beard. "This is the toughest race of the season, there are a lot of competitive teams out there and they all have the same goal in mind, but I feel confident that we're going to give them a run for their money."
