Anderson holds provisional pole after 2 of 4 qualifying sessions
MADISON, Ill. (June 23, 2006) -- After two of four qualifying sessions at the 10th annual NHRA O'Reilly Midwest Nationals, Greg Anderson holds the No. 1 spot in Pro Stock.
After the sun went down, Anderson, driver of the KB Racing LLC-owned, Summit Racing Equipment-backed Pro Stock Pontiac GTO, covered the Gateway International Raceway quarter-mile in 6.692 seconds at 206.23 mph, setting both the elapsed time and speed track records.
There still remains two more qualifying sessions tomorrow scheduled for 2 and 7 p.m. The top 16 qualifiers then begin their quest for the NHRA O'Reilly Midwest Nationals Pro Stock title on Sunday, June 25, with eliminations for all professional classes beginning at 3 p.m.
Anderson and his teammate, Jason Line, currently sit atop the NHRA POWERade Pro Stock point standings heading into qualifying for the NHRA O'Reilly Midwest Nationals. Anderson leads the way with 763 points, while Line is No. 2 with 726 points. Only 124 points separate No. 1 from No. 5.
