White to continue 'testing' in Pomona.

POMONA, Calif. - At their last national event, Marc White and the Etterman Racing Top Alcohol Funny Car team garnered a runner-up finish 'testing' for next season.  Going into this weekend's season-ending AAA Auto Club Finals in Pomona, Calif., White and the Etterman Team plan to be in 'test mode' again, and are shooting for the same results.

White, from Glendale Heights, Ill., feels that if the team can gather new information from testing, but also finish on a high note, it should give them some good momentum going into next season.

"We're going to go out here and run as hard as ever," said White.  "It's just that this weekend, we aren't in race mode; we're in test mode.  We're going to get at least four shots to try new stuff in race conditions.  At this point in the season, that is much more valuable than trying to just go rounds, where you usually have to stick with what you know works.  If we can hit it right like we did in Dallas and go some rounds, that will be great because not only will it give us more runs, but it's always good during the offseason to be the last guy to have won."

White is also excited about running at Pomona, which usually allows near record performances.

"You can really fly out here," commented White.  "The air is usually killer, and so is the track.  Hopefully some of the things we are trying will work, and who knows what it will run if they do work.  If the car really steps up, I guess everyone will know whatever we are trying works; if not, we can tell them it didn't."
