FRAM Boost Runs 4.466 Seconds on Only Friday Run
MEMPHIS -- After sitting out a five-hour rain delay that limited him to one qualifying run Friday, Cory McClenathan put the Carrier Boyz Racing FRAM Boost Top Fuel dragster into seventh place with a 4.655-second effort at 319.98 mph.
The clock was ticking close to 11 p.m. when McClenathan finally had the chance to run, and he made the best of it.
"We were pretty happy with the results," he said. "Fortunately we had the opportunity to watch other cars in front of us be too aggressive (in the tune-up) and we made changes. It is a good place to start. The car did spin the tires pretty hard at the top end."
While conditions were far from ideal, they were better than expected after a surprise rain storm dumped a lot of water on the track. More heat and humidity, plus another chance of rain, should provide additional drama for Saturday's two runs. Eliminations begin at 3 p.m. Sunday.
