MARTINO MOMENTS Pit Notes from the Pennzoil Nationals Memphis Motorsports Park Day/Date: Friday, October 3, 1997

Memphis, TN, October 3, 1997 - - Tom Martino continued the string of strong runs he started in Topeka with two quick passes during the first day of qualifying for the Pennzoil Nationals. After posting a 7.017 second elapsed time in the afternoon session, Martino took advantage of the improved conditions on Friday night to power his MaMa Rosa's Pizza Pro Stock Pontiac to a 7.001 E.T. at a top speed of 195.77 miles-per-hour. This marked Martino's best effort since the Mopar Nationals at his hometown Englishtown, NJ, track in late May, and placed him a provisional seventh heading into the final two rounds on Saturday.

"This was a good day for the MaMa Rosa's Pizza Pro Stock Racing team," exclaimed Martino. "We made two strong runs, and are looking pretty good for Sunday. But we're not standing still by any means! We'll work on fine-tuning our Firebird tomorrow, and see if we can get it even better!"
