Jeg is ready to be a threat on race day.

The second and final day of qualifying proved to be challenging. The hot Phoenix sun beat down on the racetrack at Firebird International Raceway and gave teams a taste of what to expect on race day.

In the third session Jeg rolled into the right lane. The yellow and black JEG'S Mail Order Cavalier blasted down the center of the groove.

Jeg posted a run of 6.863 at 201.19 mph. It was the fourth quickest run of the session in the right lane. The run was not an improvement and he slipped to the No. 10 position.

"We feel very good about the run we made in the right lane," said Jeg. "Obviously, we will be in the right lane for the first round tomorrow and we needed to make a good run in the lane so we have a solid baseline for race day. I think we certainly accomplished that."

In the final qualifying session Jeg moved to the preferred left lane. The team was looking to add to their database and hopefully break into the top-half of the qualified field.

The run was not an improvement, but the men in yellow and black gained valuable data on the track conditions that will help them on race day. Jeg ran a 6.875 at 200.44 mph.

"We were hoping to make a move to the top-half," said Jeg. "The important thing is that we won the first battle and in Pro Stock that is making it into the show on race day. I feel very confident that our group will be well prepared for race day to be a competitive threat to win."

Jeg will face off against Allen Johnson. The match up will put a Chevy Cavalier and Dodge Neon head-to-head in the opening round.
