Ellis in 5th after one qualifying run
MOHNTON, Penn. (September 17, 2004) -- Chip Ellis, aboard the G2/S&S/Star Racing Buell, covered the quarter- mile drag strip at Maple Grove in 7.224 seconds as qualifying got underway this afternoon for the NHRA Lucas Oil Nationals.
The run was good for the No. 5 spot as the first qualifying session for Pro Stock Bike came to an end this afternoon.
Immediately following the session, qualifying was halted due to rain. After a rain delay of approximately five hours racing resumed, but shortly thereafter was once again interrupted by rain. This forced NHRA to cancel the remaining action for today. The scheduled qualifying sessions lost to rain today will not be made up.
Weather permitting, two qualifying sessions for the G Squared V-Twin S&S powered motorcycle are scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Final eliminations for all classes get underway on Sunday at 11 a.m. These times are subject to change and reflect Eastern Daylight Time (EDT).
On TV, qualifying highlights for this event can be seen on ESPN2 on Saturday (September 18) from 4-6 p.m. ESPN2 will also air a three hour show featuring same-day coverage of eliminations on Sunday (September 19) starting at 4 p.m. (ESPN2 will repeat the elimination show from 3-5 p.m. on Friday, October 1.) Television times are Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) and subject to change at anytime without notice. Check local listings.
