TONY PEDREGON AND THE Q POWER RACE TEAM EXIT RICHMOND EARLY
RICHMOND, Va. (October 16, 2006) -- Tony Pedregon and his Q Power Race Team experienced a mechanical malfunction and fell out of action early in the Nitro Funny Car division during the NHRA Nationals this past weekend at Virginia Motorsports Part in Richmond, Va. Pedregon once again qualified in the top half of the field in Richmond, in 6th, and that strong effort, combined with his first round results, moved him to 5th in the 2006 point standings.
"We are a little disappointed," Pedregon said after Sunday's event. "We had a decent run going in the first round until we had a parts failure. Under these conditions, we're making more cylinder pressure because we're making more power. We broke a lifter and burned a piston which cost us the race. The car should have run a 4.78 like we did in qualifying. We'll spend this next week transitioning to a better part. I'll make that investment, and by the time we go to Vegas, we won't have to worry about this problem anymore."
NEXT RACE: October 27-29, 2006 -- NHRA Nationals, The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Las Vegas, Nev.
