Connolly, SKULL GEAR Pro Stock Team Holds On at No. 15

SEATTLE, July 23, 2005 -- Dave Connolly will be among the 16 Pro Stock drivers competing in Sunday's CARQUEST Auto Parts Nationals. "Barely, but we made it," he said Saturday following his fourth, and last, qualifying run at Pacfiic Raceways in nearby Kent.

"We haven't had the best of weekends," added the driver of the SKULL GEAR Chevrolet Cobalt, who wound up 15th overall with a best of 6.747 seconds at 204.60 mph. He races Kurt Johnson (No. 2, 6.665 at 207.15 mph) in the opening round of eliminations. The two met in the semifinals at Denver last Sunday with Connolly getting the win.

"We made four runs and used three different motors," he continued. "We haven't had the best of (elapsed) times this weekend."

His best run came Saturday in his final qualifying attempt. That was decent, but it's not enough to run with the top four (qualifiers) right now," Connolly said.
