Solid, Consistent Runs Place KJ Fourth on Friday in Sonoma
Kurt Johnson and the ACDelco Cobalt Racing team got their qualifying effort at Infineon Raceway off to a great start on Friday, making two solid runs down the Sonoma quarter-mile. After opening with a 6.665-second, 207.43 mph pass, KJ took advantage of the cooler conditions in the evening session to improve to a 6.626-second elapsed time with a top speed of 208.55 mph, placing him in the fourth position midway through the qualifying procedure.
"Our ACDelco Cobalt made two decent runs today, and we picked it up in the evening session, but we still have room for further improvement. It looked like the left lane was a little better this evening in the first sixty feet, but even though we were on the right side, we were still able to move up with the pack and stay near the top. For tomorrow, we'll look at the data from today's runs, figure out what the car needs, make a few adjustments and see if we can move up a couple spots."
