Big O Tire Chevy Runs Best of 6.729 Seconds
TOPEKA, Kansas, June 2, 2007 -- Bill Windham just can't seem to catch a break. The first-year Pro Stock driver of the Big O Tire Chevy Cobalt missed another much-needed qualifying session when Friday's second run was washed out during the O'Reilly Summer Nationals at Heartland Park Topeka.
"We are getting closer but we'd still like to make four qualifying runs," Windham said. "I did feel rusty when I first got back in the car after our long (four-week) layoff, but it didn't affect me too much."
Windham's best effort, 6.792 seconds at 204.08 mph, came on Saturday's second run. He had traction problems and didn't get down the track on the opening run. He began his weekend with a 6.803, 200.83-mph effort.
Rain has hampered qualifying at successive races at Atlanta and St. Louis, taking away runs the newcomer needs to continue his learning experience.
"The guys did a great job on the setup this weekend," added Windham. "We won't have to wait long to get back to work."
