The Valley Off Road Racing Desert Series has concluded for the 2002. Sam and Team Margarita completed the year with three first place finishes in Class Ten and three second place finishes in Class One. The car has run flawlessly all season with minimal repairs and the BF Goodrich tires have provided a failure free ride through the Yerrington 300, Fallon 200 and Lovelock 250.
Coupled with the two short course races at the beginning of the season Sam once again finds himself in first place in both class one and ten for the year with only three short course events left in the VORRA schedule. The 1049 car is a 1984 vintage MIRAGE frame which was completely reworked by Sam and the crew in Sam's garage prior to the start of the 2002 season.
New FOX shocks and mountings, DG-300 Hewland transmission built by Sam, a type one VW engine for the short courses built by D&E VW repair, and a type four VW engine built by D&E and Sam have provided the power to the ground.
