Makela Makes it two out of Two at Croft

Valle Makela will start from pole position for both races in the UK Formula Ford Championship at Croft tomorrow afternoon, after setting the fastest times in qualifying earlier today (May 1).

The Finnish driver's two best laps were enough to clinch the all important front row places ahead of Briton Daniel Clarke. The drivers had to deal with a broken-up qualifying session after two red flags for separate incidents.

India's Suk Sandher will start from third position in race one tomorrow, just ahead of hard-charging Swede Sebastian Hohenthal. Charlie Kimball from the United States took fifth place with Japan's Yuya Sakamoto rounding off the top sixth.

Hohenthal will start from third place for race two, alongside Kimball. Sandher and Sakamoto share the third row. Round one winner Charlie Donnelly could only manage seventh quickest time around the North Yorkshire venue.

Series newcomer Andrew Bentley, driving for former Grand Prix racer Martin Donnelly's team, suffered a baptism of fire. A spin at the complex left him stranded on the circuit, bringing the red flags out to retrieve the stricken Van Diemen.
