Luca Filippi got the pole in Vallelunga, eleven drivers fight within a second
Luca Filippi, in spite of his injured wrist, got the pole position in the second event of the Trofeo Csai F.3000 Italia in Vallelunga (Rome).
The Fisichella Motor Sport driver cut-off half of a second from his best time during the second session (1'05"272), and such a performance gave him the edge on his team mate Alessandro Ciompi, the best one in the morning session (1'05"583).
Ciompi, winner in Adria, didn't improve in the afternoon and left the second place to Jaroslav Janis, of the Ma-Con team (1'05"479). The Czech driver is a deb in the Trofeo, as a substitute for Michel Vorba, who joined the Sighinolfi Team just before Vallelunga.
Ciompi will share the second row with the other Sighinolfi driver, Bernhard Auinger from Austria (1'05"658). Both Astromega cars experienced set-up problems; Toni Vilander, poleman in Adria, ended fifth, just before the surprising Juan Caceres (GP Racing), while Giacomo Ricci is eight after Fabrizio Del Monte.
Eleven of the fourteen cars of the series stays within a second, a fact that speaks clearly about the high level and the exciting quality of the Trofeo.
