The Barber Pro Series, a racing series based on identically prepared single-seat racing cars, debuts a new powerplant at this weekend's Miami season-opener.

For the first nine years of its history the cars were powered by turbocharged four-cylinder engines but for 1995 the cars will use normally-aspirated 3.5 liter Dodge V6 engines producing aprox. 250 horsepower.

A unique aspect of this series is that all the cars are owned and prepared by a single entity, the Skip Barber Pro Series, and drivers enter races on a subscription basis. The idea behind the series is that since all the cars are capable of equal performance driving talent will be the deciding factor in each contest. The series runs as a supporting race at major IMSA, SCCA, Indycar and NASCAR events; races are televised on a delayed basis on ESPN.

An international entry has been assembled for the Miami event, as detailed below:

#0 Nessim Kassem Bogotoa Colombia #2 Jeff Willoughby Lansing MI #3 Tom Cormack Downers Grove IL #4 Peter MacLeod Kirkland WA #5 Chris Menninga Pella IA #7 Nick Kunewalder Encenita CA #8 Frederik Larsson Falkenberg Sweden #9 Mark Baker Forth Worth TX #10 Thomas Schie Oslo Norway #11 Albert Spinola Sao Paulo Brazil #12 Christian Fischer Basle Switzerland #15 Mattias Andersson Atvidaberg Sweden #16 Geoff Boss Narragansett RI #17 Andy Boss Narragansett RI #21 Stephen Sardelli Jamestown RI #22 Joaquin DeSoto Miami FL #23 Tim Moser Ventura CA #25 Leandro Larrosa Buenos Aires Argentina #27 Diego Dominguez Assuncion Paraguay #30 Will Pace Jackson MI #44 Jamie Spence Essex England #31 Nigel Greensall Coventry England #51 Skip Streets Manhattan Beach CA #52 Jaki Scheckter E.London South Africa #69 Edgar Zamora San Salvador El Salvador #78 Andres Gomez Bogota Colombia #85 Hernando Ramirez Bogota Colombia #95 Curtis Spicer Vancouver BC Canada #96 Barry Waddell Evansville IN The Barber/Dodge Pro Series is sanctioned by the Sports Car Club of America; at Miami the series will support the Indycar World Series.
