CREWS CAN EXPECT A WET NISSAN SUGARBELT 400

The 80 crews entered for the Nissan Sugarbelt 400, the opening round of the Absa Off Road Championship, can expect a wet race.

The Eston area in which the event is run has experienced soaking rains for over a week and sections of the route will be muddy, which will make the going particularly tough for the rear wheel drive vehicles.

"Sections of the route, particularly in the cane fields and some plantations, will be muddy and competitors will have to exercise caution," said Clerk of the Course, Rex Boreham. "There is, however, an advantage in that dust will be kept to a minimum and average speeds will be lower, which makes for a safer event."

The Nissan Sugarbelt 400 gets underway with a Prologue at 12h30 on Friday, March 18 and the main event starts at 08h00 at the Beaumont Eston Farmers Club on Saturday, March 19.
