Nissan Dealer 400 Update #3 - Marsh grabs Special Vehicle lead after 230km
At the end of the second loop of the Nissan Dealer 400, round two of the Absa Off Road Championship, Hannes Grobler and Francois Jordaan and Alfie Cox and Ralph Pitchford were still running one-two in the Proudly South African Nissan Hardbody pickups.
Third overall and leading the Special Vehicle category are Terence Marsh / Michael Whitehouse (Nashua Mobile BAT Spec-1) followed by KwaZulu-Natal crew Will Battershill and Reg Sutton (Jimco), father and son Robert and Gareth Wark (Superpave Chenowth) and early race leaders Atang Makgekgenene and Buks Carolin (Total Jimco).
Manfred Schroder and Alec Harris (Team Ford Racing Ranger) have a small lead over Mark Cronje and Chris Birkin (Castrol Toyota Hilux 2.7i) in the fight for Class D honours.
Ernest Corbett and Warwick Goosen (Century Property Developments BAT) got the better of archrivals Evan Hutchison and Trevor Ormerod (Motorite Racing BAT) and are running ninth and 10th respectively.
2004 Lesotho Sun 400 winners John Weir-Smith and Geoff Minnitt (Kopanong Hotel Superteam Jimco) had to endure another mechanical breakdown and were towed back to the pits.
Nissan Dealer 400 Update #4 - Grobler and Jordaan chalk up first win of the season
Hannes Grobler and Francois Jordaan chalked up their first win of the 2005 Absa Off Road Championship when they stormed across the finish line on the Nissan Dealer 400, after leading for all but the first 15 minutes of the race.
Second across the line were Special Vehicle category winners Terence Marsh and Michael Whitehouse in the Nashua Mobile BAT Spec-1. The pair has been knocking at the door for some time and are basking in the glory of their maiden win.
