SCCS: SCCS Virgina preview

Stock Car Championship Series leave the rovals and return to natural terrain road course.

ROCKY MOUNT, VIRGINIA-- Ron Fariss in his Marines / Pinkerton Chevrolet number 22 along with his Lynchburg, VA based team are ready to return to the natural terrain road courses at the Virginia International Raceway (VIR). Ron currently is in first place in the standings.

"I am looking forward to returning to VIR" stated Farris,"I have raced at VIR many times in sports cars but never in a Stock Car! This time we will be running on the North course which will be new to me and the rest of the SCCS drivers so we should see some competitive racing".

Chris Mitchum a 26 year old veteran of road racing, including racing at the 24 hours of Dayton, and other endurance races at Watkins Glen and Lime Rock is enjoying the professional level of racing at SCCS." The first half of the season we were getting acclimated to the Stock Car and now we are focusing on fine tuning of the team and car Mitchum said. Our second place in the standings has energized our team and we are concentrated on moving up with our KOONS Automotive Chevrolet.

A driver in his freshman year of racing is currently in third in the points standings. Michael Brown of Blue Ridge, VA stated"we have been on the podium only one time this year but we are the most consistent in finishing all of the laps in the races. We have been busy since the last race completing our new Virginia Valve Automotive / Star City Auto Parts Pontiac to run at VIR".
