The American City Racing League will reprise their September 1997 appearance at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on April 24-25 with the first race of the 1998 season. The City Team Sports 2000 and Super Sports 2000 machines will again take to the track in conjunction with the Toshiba-sponsored Professional SportsCar Racing event.
"We're delighted to be able to race again at this marvelous facility," said series publicist Roger Diez. "Local racing awareness engendered by the recent Winston Cup race should help build an excellent crowd for the event", he continued. With new teams, new chassis and potentially a significantly larger field for their second race at LVMS, the ACRL will be a significant addition to the show.
The American City Racing League is in its 11th year of competition. The series features Ford-powered Sports 2000 and Cosworth-powered Super Sports 2000 sports racers, competing in a format that rewards both driver and city team results. ACRL will expand to new venues in 1998, with races scheduled at Pikes Peak International Raceway and at Topeka's Heartland Park (the inaugural ACRL East race for Sports 2000 cars).
