Passen Named Technical Director for SCCA Pro Racing
TOPEKA, Kan. (Feb. 1, 2007) - SCCA Pro Racing announced today that Shawn Passen has been appointed Technical Director for SCCA Pro Racing.
Passen has served as Technical Manager for SPEED Touring Car since 2003 and will continue this function in addition to overseeing all SPEED World Challenge and Mazda MX-5 Cup technical programs.
"We're very lucky to have someone with Shawn's experience head our technical department," SCCA Pro Racing President Bob Wildberger said. "His knowledge of the teams, the process and the cars from both an official's and a competitor's perspective is invaluable to our technical program."
"I expect 2007 to be an exciting SCCA Pro Racing season full of close racing," Passen said. "I am well aware of the challenges that lie ahead and I'm ready to meet them head on."
Passen's connection to SPEED World Challenge dates back to 1994 when he was involved with the series as a co-owner and team manager through 2000. Passen's team was even awarded Crew of the Year in 1999.
Since becoming a Technical Manager for SPEED Touring Car, Passen has played an important role in re-writing the Pro Racing Regulations, designing computer engine modeling programs and initiating the homologation process for new car entries.
A native of Columbus, Ohio, Passen graduated with honors from DeVry University with a B.A. in Busniess Operations Management and has more than a dozen years of motorsports experience.
