Ohio Speedweek features a dozen previous Ohio Speedweek winners
CAMARGO, IL -- A dozen former Ohio Speedweek feature winners are expected as Ohio Speedweek, sanctioned by the Haulmark All Star Circuit of Champions, kicks off Sunday night at Attica Raceway Park.
Among active All Star drivers, Kenny Jacobs sits atop the list of 42 different feature winners in 126 Ohio Speedweek events, with seven Speedweek wins to his credit. Other past winners in action this week include Kelly Kinser (6), Mark Keegan (4), Dale Blaney (4), Byron Reed (4) and Greg Wilson (2). Those drivers with single Speedweek wins on their resume include Dean Jacobs, Todd Kane, Jeff Shepard, Phil Gressman, Danny Smith and John Ivy.
Also adding to this year's action is the expected appearance by two outside drivers, Jan Howard of Byhalia, MS in the Webb Racing No. 51 and Ocean View, Delaware's Curt Michael in the Millennium Motorsports No. 55.
The Ohio Speedweek action starts at Attica Raceway Park on Sunday, June 29 and moves to Wayne County Speedway at Orrville on Monday night, June 30. Tuesday, July 1 Fremont Speedway hosts the first of two All Star Speedweek shows then Wednesday, July 2, the tour swings down to K-C Raceway, south of Chillicothe, and the July 3rd show on Thursday returns to Fremont. The high banks of Limaland Motorsports Park will host the holiday Friday night July 4th activities, with the Portsmouth Raceway Park Saturday wrap-up show July 5th paying $10,000 to win.
Because the event is open to all cars that meet All Star specs, drivers may choose to run one or all nights. Close to 50 cars are expected nightly with a complete show of time trials, qualifying heats, a dash and a C, B and A-Main feature at each track. Overnight campers are welcome at all facilities.
"America's Series, The All Star Circuit of Champions" will present a slate of 60 sprint car race dates in 2003 from February to October in action at 31 speedways in 17 states. America's favorite dirt track series has presented fans with the largest average car count and greatest number of different race winners in the United States since 1980.
