Wimmer Passes Eight Cars in Faria Memorial

TULARE, CA (May 19) -- Brandon Wimmer drove Redi-Green Motorsports' #1K ARB Incorporated Maxim past eight cars in Saturday's Chris and Brian Faria Memorial at Thunderbowl Raceway.

The seventh-place finish was Wimmer's fourth top-10 in six Golden State Challenge King of California Series races this season.

Wimmer, the 15th-fastest qualifier, won the Third Heat Race and started inside the eighth row in the 30-lap "A" Feature Tulare's semi-banked, 1/3-mile oval.

"We missed the setup in qualifying," Wimmer said. "We were way off and didn't qualify well. If you don't qualify well, it can ruin the rest of your night.

"The track was pretty wet and it never really slicked off. It was pretty tough to pass, so I guess we did well to finish seventh. Toward the end of the race, our left rear shock broke off. It was just one of those nights."

Redi-Green Motorsports is looking forward to three nights of racing over the Memorial Day weekend. The team will put its first-place ranking on the line in Friday's California Civil War Sprint Car Series race at "The Action Track of the West" -- Marysville Raceway Park -- then run the Walt Ross Memorial and Gary Patterson Memorial Golden State Challenge King of California Series races at Calistoga Speedway Saturday and Sunday.

"We want to stay in first place, so we're going to be at Marysville Friday," said Wimmer, who is three points ahead of three-time series champion Andy Forsberg. "We're not going to run all the Civil War races though.

"I'm glad we're going to Calistoga. I'm ready to get back on a big track. All we've been running out here is bullrings; I'm ready to race on a bigger one. Calistoga is a big half-mile. We'll have more room to race and it's really fast. It'll be fun to get on a big track again. It'll be the first half-mile we've run this year."
