Speedtechnik and Georgetown Auto Group to Run Dodge SRT-4 in 2005 SPEED Touring Car

NORWALK, Conn. (March 11, 2005) -- Speedtechnik and Georgetown Auto Group announced today their intent to run a new Dodge SRT-4 in the 2005 SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge Touring Car series. This is the first year of eligibility for the SRT-4, which became eligible after World Challenge officials announced that turbocharged cars would be permitted.

The driver's seat will be filled by eight-year veteran Hugh Stewart, of Massapequa, N.Y. In 2004, Stewart piloted the Speedtechnik #34 BMW E36 325 sedan, but this marks the first full season for Speedtechnik and Stewart.

Both team and driver think it's a pairing that will work well.

"The combination of what we have learned through both Professional and Club Racing with our vast knowledge of the automotive aftermarket has enabled us to reach this new pinnacle in our racing efforts," stated Team Manager and Co-Owner Mitchell Frischer. "Hugh Stewart is a fantastic talent whose skills go far beyond those of just driving.

"He has been and continues to be an integral part in the car's build, layout and specifications. You cannot get more 'hands-on' than that."

The team's announcement also marks the first domestic professional racing collaboration between an Automotive Aftermarket Tuner and a Dealership network as Mitchell Frischer and Paul Garavel, owners of Speedtechnik and Georgetown Automotive Group, respectively, came together to build the team in its current form.

Over the last 10 months, Speedtechnik and Georgetown Auto Group have been hard at work building, preparing and testing the car at tracks throughout the United States. The team's inaugural outing comes at Sebring International Raceway, March 16-18. From there, the season's journey will take the team to all parts of the country, including the Speedtechnik "Home Track" of Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Conn., July 1-4, before it concludes with the October 14-16 race at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, Calif.
