PENDLETON, Ind. (April 19, 2004) -- The ASA Late Model Series has altered the schedule, but remains at 14 races as previously announced. The September 12 race at Tri-City Motor Speedway has been replaced by a Saturday, September 11 event at Madison International Speedway.
"Madison is a great track and will really lend itself to some exciting ASA Late Model action," said Ron Varney, vice president/ASA Late Model Series. "It's a fast track with lots of room to race so we are really excited about opening there on May 8 and now coming back in the fall for a second event."
This change will give two ASA Late Model Series races to Madison this season. The cars open their inaugural season on May 8 at the facility with the Blain's Farm & Fleet/DeWalt/Carhartt 100, and now will return on September 11. This 0.50-mile oval has 18 degree banking through the turns, and is owned by Terry Kunes. The ASA National Tour cars will also make a visit to the Wisconsin facility on July 17.
The schedule change was enacted at the request of Tri-City Motor Speedway which will now host a single ASA Late Model Series event, the Pepsi-Cola 100 on June 27.
The American Speed Association is based in Pendleton, Ind., and has offered stock car racing programs since 1968, including the ASA National Tour, ASA Late Model Series, several regional touring series, and the ASA Member Track programs. For additional information, visit asaracing.com.
